Russian Casinos

Until 1980, gambling was banned in Russia. In 1988, slot machines were legalized first. At the beginning of the 90s, the terrestrial casinos became legal. In 2002, there were more than 50 terrestrial casinos in Moscow. In 2006, the government banned online casinos to “protect younger generations”. In 2009, Vladimir Putin banned all casinos except for four geographical regions. This ban still valid today. Currently, terrestrial casinos in Russia are available only in the following regions: Altai Krai, Primorsky Krai, Krasnodar Krai, and Kaliningrad Oblast.
